Ayes:
Degette, Perlmutter, Tancredo.
Nays:
Salazar, Udall, Lamborn, Musgrave.
I agree with Square State: that’s a f’ing weird coalition.
Also, joy is pain, cats are lying down with dogs, hot snow falls up.
Posted in Misc.A number of people are commenting on the fact that new evidence of Julius Rosenberg really was guilty of passing secrets to the Soviets. A number of conservative type blogs are trumpetting this as an instance of “See! He did it!”
Yeah? What about his wife?
Posted in RamblingsAnd I’m using all of them for things like law school, the clinic I’m participating in, and occasional exercise. This leaves precious little time for bloggin. By which I mean just enough time to write this.
Posted in Law SchoolWaiting in the airport, one question keeps occuring to me: what is the problem with air travel?
It is difficult to imagine another industry that could continue in the face of such disdain from the paying customers.
Posted in Misc. You know, it didn’t cross my mind that there could be another 9/11 attack today until I read Glen’s comment. Do you think there is someone who deserves a little credit for this ease of mind we enjoy?
I’m going to let the Simpsons answer this one. Then I’m going to go facepalm mightily. Read more »

As someone with horrible vision who is constantly wearing contacts, I look forward to this.
Posted in Misc.A little late, since we didn’t all disappear into a black hole, but io9 has a post on 10 scifi stories that have an answer to what will happen with the LHC turns on.
And somehow, it doesn’t have Forever Peace on it. Apparently, it is a little on the nose to include a story where the universe is at risk because of the largest ever particle accelerator in a list that talks about what happens when you turn on the largest ever particle accelerator.
Posted in Misc. The questions of whether Sarah Palin is a small-government Republican that I previously mentioned continues to simmer on libertarian minded blogs, and I continue to become less convinced. Some thought later, and I’ve pinpointed why.
It goes without saying that the VP pick of either party is brought on board to bolster some weakness or to lock in some demographic. In that sense, I think Governor Palin is a pure genius pick: she’s a Pro-Life, God-Fearing, Western, Pro-Gun, Reforming, Woman. And some commenters are essentially suggesting that she is a good pick based on indications that she doesn’t want her Pro-Life, God-Fearing beliefs imposed. But the part of electorate that she appeals to almost assuredly do not hold that belief. And those people, having voted for her, will want their do.
Maybe this does Sarah Palin a disservice. In personal association, I would be be quite the boorish character if I started condemning people based on what other people with similar beliefs might do. But this is politics. If McCain/Palin is victorious through the support of evangelizing Christians, then they will need to indulge the same to be victorious again in 2012, and pave the way for another administration in 2016.
And that is not something that I can get behind. As much as I might generally like the idea of a Western, Pro-Gun, Reforming Woman in high political office.
ETA: Now complete with links. You’d think I’d have learned to ensure that I’d crossed my t’s and dotted by lower case j’s, but no.
Posted in RamblingsNow as a I understand it, the preferred method is burning, in a absolutely politically neutral milieu. Given this, I certainly hope that all flags ever used at every Republican political event were promptly disposed of in the prescribed manner.
