As a Matter of Personal Opinion

Related to this, I just want to say that I agree with this sentiment to a certain extent:

[O]n the general principle that information in an open society shouldn’t be kept secret and that the voters should make up their own minds about whether or not they trust certain candidates, this video should be set free.

I think the content is likely boring and the general import minimal, but that whole open society thing is important.

On the other hand, it is also compelling that the LA Times received the tape on the express condition that it not release it.  There is something unsettling about calls for the exposure of confidential information based on a political campaigns demands.  Something just as unsettling as a major media outlet withholding such information.

So let’s just say I’m conflicted.
