Apparently, German sailors stopped a pirate attack, then released the pirates. German law only allows prosecution of piracy when the target is German citizens or property. Instapundit calls this “Pirates 1, International Law 0″ but it seems to me the blame falls on zee Germans.

I’ve got a buddy who mentions Dubai whenever vacation destinations come up. Aware that they are aiming to become a business/tourist mecca, he suggests that we head there now while things are (relatively) cheap.
Yes, I’m friends with some yuppie people. I have certain tendencies that way. I don’t apologize for believing that hard work should be rewarded with material goods.
But I keep saying that it is a poor, poor idea. Why? Because it’s all fun and games till you run afoul of some conservative local moors.
